Common questions
Can I upgrade the processors in a DL360 Gen10?
Yes. The DL360 Gen10 supports Intel Xeon Scalable first and second generation processors, from 4-core Silver to 28-core Gold and 24-core Platinum parts. HPE sells each processor as an option kit (-B21) with the heat sink and fan needed for the second processor socket, and also as a factory-installed -L21 kit that is functionally the same part. Match the new processor to the existing one in a two-socket server, and check the BIOS and firmware level. We can quote a processor upgrade for a single server or a whole fleet.
How should memory be installed in the DL360 Gen10?
Each processor has 6 memory channels with 2 slots per channel, 12 slots per processor. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs cannot be mixed. With 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable processors, memory runs at up to 2933 MT/s. For the exact slot order, follow HPE’s memory population guidelines for Gen10 servers.
Which power supplies fit?
The DL360 Gen10 uses HPE Flex Slot hot plug power supplies: 500W, 800W and 1600W Platinum, plus 800W Titanium and -48VDC options. The 1600W supply needs 200 to 240 VAC.
Do Performance RAID controllers need a battery?
Yes. Smart Array P408 and P816 controllers need the HPE Smart Storage Battery (P01366-B21) or the Smart Hybrid Capacitor for cache backup.
Does the DL360 Gen10 share parts with the DL380 Gen10?
Many options do, including memory, drives, FlexibleLOM network cards and Smart Array controllers. Chassis parts such as risers, cages and fans are different. See our DL380 Gen10 parts for that server.
